last week (friday to be exact) i went skiing for a work event. i used to ski a lot when iw as growing up, but i stopped, and it's been about half my lifetime since them (13 years give or take).
i was a little curious to find out how i'd do. after all i used to be a pretty decent skier. nothing amazing, but for a fat awkward young lad i did alright.
plus i was a little worried about falling and hurtning my ankle(s) again, which i wouldn't be happy about.
turns out i was even better than i used to be, and i was very impressed with myself. i didn't fall at all, and i went on some advanced trails.
later when i got home though and kept thinking about it, i realized that inherently skiing is almost exactly like rollerblading. which i've also done a lot of (in the intervening years).
SO it turns out i'm not the skiing prodigy i thought i was. i'm just used to that type of behavior. This does explain why early friday when i first put my ski's on, i had to fight my muscle memory and not T stop, which could have been catastrohic.
